When a gay model is killed, uber-macho cop Sgt. Benson (Ryan O'Neal) and prim, gay police filing clerk Kerwin (John Hurt) must pose as lovers and go undercover in Los Angeles's gay community to investigate the crime. The assignment and their own prejudices drive them both to distraction, until they close in on their quarry and each discovers a newfound respect for the strengths of the other. James Burrows directs this entertaining comedy.
